The Outdoor Office
The Bell Community Garden is the city's largest community garden, cared for by 40 families and Gateway Greening volunteers. The Bell Garden is a wonderful example of what urban gardeners can achieve.
The Bell Garden also serves as Gateway Greening's outdoor office, providing a center for urban gardening activities. It includes ten demonstration garden beds, a composting area, a picnic shelter, and a lath house for seedlings to be distributed to community gardeners.
Here are a few of the reasons to stop by the Bell Garden...
- Community gardeners and volunteers can pick up seeds, plant MATERIALS, and other free items donated to Gateway Greening!
- community gardeners can purchase vegetable seedlings. We grow cool and warm season heirloom varieties under organic conditions.
- It's a great way to LEARN new gardening techniques and participate in weekly planting demonstrations.
- You'll get to SHARE gardening tips with other urban gardeners, volunteers, and Master Gardeners from all over the city!
Location
The Bell Garden is located at 3871 Bell Avenue, just east of Vandeventer and two blocks north of Delmar.
